End Mandatory Guards
Take action and Let's fix it.
It’s past time to end the rule that requires dispensaries to have guards. Walking into a store with a guard at the door makes it feel like we’re entering a high-risk area, not buying a legal product. It’s uncomfortable and adds to the stigma that cannabis customers are somehow different from anyone else shopping.
These stores already have cameras everywhere, strict ID checks, and tight inventory controls. They’re more secure than any other retail store. Why do they also need a guard standing at the entrance when a pharmacy or liquor store doesn’t.
Mandatory guards create an intimidated, “policed” atmosphere that feels less like a retail purchase and more like a border crossing. This just doesn’t make any sense when data shows that the primary threat to Illinois dispensaries is “crash-and-grab” burglaries where organized crews use vehicles to ram storefronts.
Use the form to tell lawmakers: Allow drive-thru service at dispensaries in Illinois.
The Illinois Action Center was built on a simple premise: The people who use a service should have a say in how it works. Too often, the laws governing your local dispensary are debated by people who have never stood in line for medication or tried to run an errand on a tight schedule. Legislators debate policy in the abstract and you navigate the results every single day. It shouldn’t work that way.
How It Works
We filter out the political noise to focus on practical changes that matter to you. Whether it’s picking up your order without leaving your car, shopping at hours that fit your work schedule, or ensuring your local store feels safe and welcoming. When a regulation stands in the way of your convenience, we give you the tools to demand a fix in second, not hours. After all, your Representative works for you. We just help you remind them.
